Massage therapy, what type?
I have been told by the doctor to get massage 2-3 times a week as part of pain management for osteoarthritis, to relieve joint pain. But, there are differant types of massage, what should I ask for? Also, I have severe osteoporosis and don’t want anything too vigorous. Thanks
If you go to a massage therapist and talk about your concerns they should be able to tell you what kind it is you will need. If you came to see me I would give you a swedish massage, but I’ve also been trained in injury (sports) massage and I would incorporate my knowledge into the swedish so you could feel complete. But injury can be really deep so what you are looking for is a swedish massage. That’s actually the most common. You will really enjoy it if you find a good therapist you can be comfortable with. I’m sure it will help with the pain. Good luck and best wishes!
